Mobile Danish robot receives the DIRA Automation Award

The Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen awarded the DIRA Automation Award 2015 to Mobile Industrial Robots at hi-2015 in MCH Messecenter Herning this Tuesday

Tuesday afternoon, Mobile Industrial Robots received a prize and was also highly praised at the high-tech and industrial trade fair 2015 in Denmark at MCH Messecenter Herning.

DIRAThe Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, presented the DIRA Automation Award 2015 before the official opening of the trade fair.

Mobile Industrial Robots receives the prize for MiR100, which is a mobile robot used for internal transport tasks in the industry and e.g. at hospitals.

The prize was among other things awarded because MiR100 is a logistics robot, which functionally can match existing alternatives and at a reasonable price even for small enterprises.

The jury emphasises that MiR100 may free up many hands and heads from tedious transport tasks for value-creating work at Danish enterprises.

The Danish Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, also emphasised that MiR in several ways may contribute positively to Denmark.

– MiR has already penetrated the market and holds potential of becoming a large export success. In addition to creating value for the users of MiR’s robots, MiR will also create new jobs on Funen, where a strong skills environment has been created. This robot cluster is actually the result of Mærsk’ long-term investments in Odense University, which has been strongly focused on robot technology. MiR is also the result of dedicated efforts on the part of Mærsk and the University. Although it may seem to be a paradox that we have to automate to create jobs, this is how we create new jobs in Denmark, and consequently, not least small enterprises in Denmark have to rely on more robots in their production, Lars Løkke Rasmussen says.

CEO of Mobile Industrial Robots, Thomas Visti, is both very proud of and pleased to receive the prize.

– The DIRA Automation Award is a huge pat on the shoulder to both management and employees. For our business, the timing of this price could not be better: This is the right time to receive such a prestigious seal of approval as the DIRA Automation Award. We are still a small enterprise, but we are busy establishing our business, primarily in Europe where we now have 20 dealers in 11 countries. Next year, we will enter the USA and then Asia, and especially in these regions, awards as this one are highly valued, says Thomas Visti, who expects that the award will boost the enterprise’s export activities considerably.

– After Universal Robots’ global success with their robots, other countries have discovered that little Denmark has cutting edge skills in innovative robot technology, says Thomas Visti and adds that MiR next year is planning to employ another 20 employees.

There were four nominees for the Automation Award. They were selected among 50 nominated enterprises. A jury visited the four nominated enterprises and included this in their deliberations to pick the winner of the DIRA Automation Award 2015.

DIRA is a Danish Robot Network, DIRA with 130 enterprises as members.
